FIT4MOM Burleson-Crowley truly changed my postpartum experience. I felt like I had really lost my identity after my son was born. I knew I needed to find something that I could do just for me. FIT4MOM has given me exactly that! It has enabled me to prioritize myself by having set times each week dedicated to workout
Tell us who you are mama to!
I am a mama to an energetic, sweet two year old boy, Augustus.
How did you meet your husband?
My husband and I met at Texas Tech freshman orientation. We both did not know anyone coming to Tech from our high schools, so we were each other’s first friend. I had no idea at the time I had just met my future husband.
What’s your favorite family activity?
We enjoy doing anything outside. We also enjoy getting together with other family members every weekend to have a meal and catch up.
Tell us a little about your career—pre or post baby.
I am a CPA and before I had my son, I was an auditor for a public accounting firm in Dallas. I spent 2 months out of the year traveling all over Texas and Oklahoma to do audits. Once we decided to start a family, I got a job in Fort Worth as the Accounting Manager for an Oil and Gas company. I love my job!
How did you find out about FIT4MOM?
I am friends with one of the instructors, Ashley McKay, and had seen her posting on social media about FIT4MOM. It looked like such a fun way to work out and meet other mamas. I knew I wanted to join in!
What is your favorite part about FIT4MOM?
I attend the body boost and body ignite moms only evening classes. These classes fill my cup each week. It is a time where I can fully focus on my body, my mind, and my health. After each workout, I leave feeling mentally reenergized. I have gained so much strength physically and I see that during my day to day activities.
What has inspired you the most since being a part of FIT4MOM?
As a new mom, I felt very alone and overwhelmed in my new role. The other women I have met through FIT4MOM have truly inspired me and given me confidence to take on all the challenges motherhood throws at me. Whether it’s getting advice from them on how to handle a certain situation or simply just seeing them show up for class each week knowing they also had to juggle a hundred different tasks just to get there.
Have you ever thought, gosh I can’t do this, and what brings you to see the good?
Taking a moment to pause and pray. When I start feeling overwhelmed, I pause and take a deep breath. I focus on what is actually happening in that exact moment and what I can control. I reflect on all of the good in my life and the many blessings I have been given.
What advice would you give a new mom?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help or share how you’re feeling. All of your thoughts and feelings are valid. Whatever you are experiencing, another mother has experienced the same thing! You are not alone in this! Find a good support system and fully lean into it.
