Prenatal Chiropractic Care: Webster Technique

We have discussed why you should see a Prenatal Chiropractor in pregnancy and what it helps with but what about how it is done?

By definition:

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated.

Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia), caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal presentation. Correction of sacral subluxation may have a positive effect on all of these causes of dystocia.

A Prenatal Chiropractor will assess your body for any sacral misalignments or shifts in the pelvis and adjust any areas needed with the use of hands, table assisted or instruments to provide the optimum balance in your pelvis. The adjustment is simple and pain free and will not take more than a few minutes to complete.

Through using the Webster Technique to analyze and correct the sacrum, Prenatal Chiropractors are allowing your body/pelvis to open and provide the baby with more space to get into the optimum position. We are not turning your baby. Babies can turn when given more space and less tension around the uterus but ultimately, we are giving your body control and letting it do the work needed without interference.
