November 2019 Mom of the Month

My youngest son was almost 6 weeks old and I knew I had to get my 18-month-old out of this house today, or we are all going to lose it! Well this one particular day I decided to take both boys out alone for the very first time, I ran into a group of moms with their babies in strollers doing sit ups. I immediately thought, I must check this out and could the timing be any more perfect!!! I decided to not interrupt and was approached before I could even ask. Fit4mom just fell right into place when I needed it most. It has been one of the best additions to my life. I get to be active. I get much needed mom interaction. I get to see my children mold, grow and we all get to create lifetime bonds. This group of women welcomed my boys and I with open arms and man do they make me laugh! I am beyond grateful to be a part of such a great village of women and children, if you have a fit4mom close to you please don’t be afraid to check it out!

Where are you originally from?

I was born in Port Arthur Texas and moved to Dallas when I was 7 years old.

Tell us about your little workout buddies!

I have two workout buddies, Judah and Gunner. Gunner is almost 2 and Judah is 5 months!

I got the best of both worlds, my oldest is as wild and free spirited as they come and my youngest is laid back and always grinning!

What’s your favorite family activity?

Our favorite family activity is playing outside! Our weekends revolve mostly around running around outside with Gunner while Judah watches… until he starts to move!

Tell us a little about your career—pre or post baby.

I was a college student at Texas A&M and worked as a real estate agent all through out college! I completed my last semester of classes (19 hours) while pregnant with Gunner! Now I stay home with both of boys, I am very lucky!

How did you find out about FIT4MOM?

Fit4mom pretty much fell into my lap! Judah was about 5 weeks old and I brought Gunner to play at the park. We saw a bunch of moms working out with their babies in strollers! I immediately wanted to interrupt and blurt out “can I join whatever this is ASAP!”. I love that it happened this way because I knew it was truly meant to be!

What is your favorite thing about FIT4MOM?

My favorite thing about fit4mom is the community! Gosh, the moms are amazing too! It is so refreshing to know that other moms go through the same battles as I do! People don’t realize how lonely motherhood can be especially when you stay at home with young kids. In all I am thankful for fit4mom bringing us something that makes all of us happy!

Do you have any big plans this month?

We have no big plans this month. Our main goal is to make it through these next couple of months with 2 under 2 with as much patience and love as possible!

What do you look forward to for the holidays?

I love being around family during the holidays and of course all of the amazing food! I love to see my kids enjoy the holidays as well. It is amazing to watch these tiny humans I have created to experience the holidays with no worries, they just want to know you are there!

What is your proudest moment as a mom?

I have several proud moments as a mom! Overall, I am so proud I am lucky enough to have given birth to two healthy boys. To watch the bond my two sons are creating makes my heart skip a beat. You wouldn’t think a 5 month old or a two month old would understand being brothers but boy they do! Gunner is so nurturing to Judah and Judah could sit and laugh at Gunner all day long! It is pretty spectacular to watch!

Have you ever thought, gosh I can’t do this, and what brings you to see the good?

I have thought there is no way I will make it through this many of times! 2 under 2 is no easy task. When one is following their normal routine the other is completely off. I know that this is just a season we are in and it will continuously change. One day all the fits from teaching boundaries, the messes and the sleepless nights will pay off. I am creating some pretty awesome men that will be best friends and brothers for a lifetime, that always makes me see the good.

How has becoming a mother changed you?

Goodness, becoming a mother has molded me into a completely different person than I once was. Gunner has taught me so much about myself. He has truly made me earn my momma stripes. He keeps me on my toes every day, I truly never know what to expect. I am thankful for him for making me stronger not only as a mom but as a person. Judah has just completed everything about me as mom. He has taught me that it is okay to just be. I am a fixer, but Judah has taught me no need to fix what isn’t broken. You give him one smile and his face lights up, if a 5-month-old baby can smile regardless if he is sleepy, teething, gassy or etc. then why can’t I just be happy too. In all my boys have changed me for the better 100 percent!

What advice would you give a new mom?

To all new moms, be CONFIDENT in what you feel and know that boundaries are HEALTHY. You carried a baby for 9 months give yourself some understanding and grace! It is okay to have bad days. It is okay to ask for what you need. It is okay to follow your gut on what is best for you and your baby. You are capable of carrying and giving life so never doubt what you are capable of!
